My first massage from a male MT

Postby Caoimhan on Mon Jul 17, 2006 12:37 pm

I never specify a gender when I go for massage, but I just got my first massage from a male MT on Sat.

It was at a chiro clinic that supports the local massage school by providing them a place to do internship massage.

My MT, Ed, did a good job. I came in and specified tight lumbar and calf muscles, and he did well in providing those areas with extra attention, while making sure other areas got at least a little attention.

My only complaint is that he didn't QUITE get to some muscles lower on my spine in the sacral region. I'm trying to identify those muscles to be precise.

Ummm.... not sure where this post belongs, but it doesnt belong in the Male MT's Perspective area. Caoimhan is not an MT, and second, he was the client. If anyone should be posting about this particular massage in this section, it should be Ed.

He isn't an MT but he is going to school for massage so therefore he is Massage Student. So In my opinion it fits that it is here.

No Shannon, I dont think so. I believe he is taking an anatomy class at a com college. Last I heard, he is not in massage school.

If it didnt matter, there wouldnt be different sections for MT's and Clients and Hobbiests.

I believe it is important for new members to the board to know who is who. Perhaps members who are not MT's could have a different member listing to seperate them.

Gee, thanks, y'all.

I posted the above pretty quickly, and forgot the main intent of it...

As a man who is intending to do massage therapy, it was interesting to me to note the subtle differences from the massages I've had in the past. The MT's height and strength allowed him to get some really good leverage to work muscles very aggressively that needed it.

I really enjoyed it as a different experience than before. It gave me perspective on what I might eventually be able to "bring to the table" as a male MT.

Just food for thought. Thanks.
