What to do about warts?

I have a very tiny wart on the cuticle of one of my fingers. My school director looked at it while I was in class, and said she wouldn't worry about it.

Well today it started to bleed. So I called the school to let them know, because I know that a BLEEDING wart Is something to worry about, massage-wise. They rescheduled the intern massages I had been booked for today and tomorrow, and I'll check in with them on how it's healing when I bring ds in for his time on Sunday. We are hoping that it'll be better by my next appointment scheduled on Tuesday.

I know the old adages, such as dandelion, tea tree oil, duct tape, etc. Right now I just have a band-aid on it to keep it from contaminating or getting mashed on anything. I want to go get some thuja (homeopathic), but don't have vehicle access until dh gets home from the office later on tonight.

So, does anyone have any advice for me on what I can do to promote its healing? Has anyone else ever had to deal with this issue? It's embarrassing.... LOL!

My sons have had plantar warts before. I used that "freeze off" stuff with great success on the larger ones. There was one starting to grow that was REALLY small, and we just used the liquid brush on medication, but that stuff STUNK! It worked, but it took a few weeks.

What about wearing gloves or using finger cots? When I was in school, we had a couple classes where everyone was required to wear gloves so that we could see what it's like, since someday SOMETHING would happen where we'd likely need them.

I am surprised your director said it was not that big of a deal. When I was in Nail Tech school, we were told not to work with anything that looked like a wart without gloves. They can be extremly contaigous!

The main triggering factors are

Contacts with warts- Transmission directly depends upon the susceptibility of patient & mainly moisture promotes the spread.

Weakened body immune mechanism in Auto immune disorders or Immuno-deficiency diseases favours its occurrence and spread.

Malnutrition in children also promotes the occurrence and spread of warts

Chemotherapy treatment also favours the wart formation by weakening the immune system.

You never know if who you are working with is compromized enough to become infected.

With that said, I am not trying to say you should not work until it is gone.(But good for you for not working while it was open) I am just thinking that more precautions should be taken when you do work, especially now that it has broke open for your safety, and the safety of those you are working on.

When I was in school for MT we were taught to use a finger cot or gloves while massaging with a cut, burn or any other skin condition was present.
A few people in class did have to work this way due to cuts, and as a client we felt no difference in a gloved hand or non gloved hand.

I would highly suggest using one of the above until the wart is gone.

I did just do some research about how to remove warts and I found this:

The Homeopathic medicines commonly used in the treatment of warts are Thuja, Anti-crud, Calc carb, Lycopodium, Phosphorus, Dulcamara, Causticum, Nat sulph, Silicea, Sepia, Psorinum, Radium Brom, Ranunculus Bulbosis, Pulsatilla, Sulphur, Natrum Mur, Nitric acid, etc. These medicines should be taken under the advice and diagnosis of a Qualified Homoeopath

I personally have had good luck with the duct tape on plantar warts. Soak the area in warm water (this opens the skin up) file excess skin down, cover with duct tape and leave on for 10 days. by that time you should be able to "pick" out the root. if not, repeat.

Obviously this is not going to be apropriate in your situation.

We have had 100% success getting rid of warts by taking vitamin E. I've read that it boosts the immune system's ability to fight the virus that causes the warts.

That isn't a by-Tuesday-fix, but it only takes a couple of weeks before definite shrinking is seen. They just sort of disappear.

It can't hurt to take some vitamin E, for sure- I'm sure my diet is sorely lacking, as I haven't been home much to cook right since I started school!

Ditto on what everyone else already said!

One other handy item to have around are the anti-microbial
skin protectors. The one I use, when I'm concerned about what a client may have going on (though I've used it for when I've had a skin issue too) is by Skin Visible Pharmaceuticals, Inc. www.skinvisible.com. It's called
Personal Formula, and forms an invisible barrier lasting up to 4 hours & it will not wash off, without soap & water.
When you first apply it there is a slight tacky feel to the skin, but it dries pretty quickly.
