Starting a Clinical Aromatherapy Course next month

Postby Dragonflies on Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:06 pm

I am pleased to be starting a nine month curriculum towards certification as a Clinical Aromatherapy Certified Practitioner (CCAP) in March. So, I'll probably be spending some time delving into this section over the coming months as I work through the program. :)

I'm anxious to hear your experiences with the class. Aromatherapy has been an interest of mine for a loooong time. I've never done any more than casual dabbling with it though. I'd also love to hear about the recomendations for where to get quality oils as this is still a quandry for me. Love the YL oils, but is it really necessary to pay so much? I just don't know!

Have fun with the class!

That would be so much fun!! I've taken a 40 hour correspondence course that was very interesting. I would love to really get into it. I'll be interested to hear about your course as you work through it, so please feel free to share!

GreenDragonfly, have you tried Mountain Rose Herbs oils? http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/aroma/ess.html I have had very good experiences with them. I don't know a lot about the Young Living oils, other than any time I've been in contact with them, I've ended up with a rash. I haven't had that experience at all with the Mountain Rose Herbs oils.

That is great, Dragonflies! Very interesting to me as well...

I agree with ROS about Mountainroseherbs. They have a wealth of information on their site as well AND you can talk to a real person should you need to ask questions.

I've seen talk on BOW about Rose Mountain Herbs but I have not yet ordered. Sounds like I need to give them a try! Thank you!

So I'm half-way through the modules and loving the program! I've done seven case studies and am now deciding what my publishable research project will be. I'm stoked to be conducting a randomized research study actually. :D

Does anyone have experience doing a clinical consult with clients for aromatherapy? I'll start another topic but figured I'd put it here too. Would love to pick your brain!

Dragonflies, I really hope you do let us know how the test went. What course did you take? What all does it take to become a certified aromatherapist? What have you learned about finding quality oils?

GreenDragonfly, did you ever try the Mountain Rose Herbs oils? How do you like them?

This is all very interesting!

Sorry guys I've been MIA on this thread! I've been telling everyone about the program and forget to update folks here too!

It was challenging but my favorite part was the presentations of our research projects. Those were just so cool!

Blue wrote:What course did you take?

I took the RJ Buckle Associates course titled "Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Professionals." You can find details about the program on their website here.

Blue wrote:What all does it take to become a certified aromatherapist?

240 hours of coursework and a research project done over the course of 12 months at a local hospital with a three month break before the exam weekend. Whew! 8)

Blue wrote:What have you learned about finding quality oils?

Way more than I could write here! lol. But seriously there's so much more to essential oils and their applications than I ever dreamed of. I'm really glad I took a long course like this and not a short, introductory course. This one allows me to expand my practice and go farther than if I had taken a weekender program or something.
