End of the world....

Postby holley on Tue May 17, 2011 9:42 pm

.... predicted on May 21st.

The obvious sincerity of the true believer who gave me a brochure, at the local farmers market, touting the above provoked me.
The notion produces a clarity obscured by daily living.

How would I live, relate, spend my days if the end was imminent ? What would I hold on to/ let go of?
What would really matter?

I'd be interested in hearing responses.

I told him if it didn't pan out to meet me on the 22nd for a shoulder rub. He, of course, dismissed the notion.

Haha! I was just thinking that I had better book myself to get a massage that day! Definitely how I'd want to go.

I'm going to just do what I would do anyway. So many end-of-the-world predictions have been wrong, why waste any thought on this one?

I would probably not work. Not because I don't love it but because I'd want to spend every possible minute with my family, my kids. I'd eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Mint chocolate chip ice cream for breakfast and home made macaroni and cheese for a midnight snack. I'd try to finish that book. And I'd be damned if I'd spend one nanosecond more on housework.

This is assuming we're talking days. If we're talking months, I'd probably travel, see some of those "I need to rent that someday" movies, spend time at our cabin in Maine.

Other than those, not much would change. And please note, these are "I woulds", not "I'm doing this before the 21st".

I'm with you Tranquil, on not doing housework! Beyond that my list would include having Thai food followed by some version of dark chocolate, with raspberries & cheese cake & chai. And of course getting a great massage will always be at the top of my list of what I would do. Other than that, having time with my daughter is the most important thing I can ever be doing :)

It says in the Bible "No man knows the day or the hour" - and I think that includes women too!

Let's just carry on - and enjoy dessert a little more often!!

Well, if you're going up with the rapture, there are people who will watch your pets for you. :D

I'm still here, I must've not been good enough to receive the rapture. You?

I must be a complete heathen. :smt017

I'm kinda disappointed in how few journalists and news stations have enjoyed this, but at least we can enjoy the fun comments on Twitter.

Well, one thing is for certain, when the rapture comes - everyone will know it.

I'm still here and I'm not a complete heathen. ;)

Raptured

Postby holley on Wed May 25, 2011 11:44 pm

Well, I live on a tropical isle, trade massage with a wide variety of folk, play golf 4-5x/week, swim/snorkel, bike almost daily and have cell phone reception in every room in the house...

Raptured.

Postby holley on Thu May 26, 2011 1:26 pm

Raptured is the title of that post inferring that Hawaii, etc., etc. is close to heaven. Intended as humor.

Last massage

Postby holley on Thu May 26, 2011 2:53 pm

Macalla once posted on this site that each massage is approached "as if it were the last", and regardless of externalities, becomes "present".
That comment resonates within me still. What is brought forth in such a grounding is resplendent and kindles a spirit typically dormant in me.. That spirit is a wellspring of appreciation, joy and compassion.
Periodically reminding ourselves that our end is imminent immerses us in the same stream and washes us clean.

If you visit the guy's website (Camping, is his name?), you will see that May 21st is his prediction of the rapture. The rapture is the day that God opens the book of life and determines the destiny of those judged; both living and dead. At that point, all is set in stone. You either die/remain dead (or, as some believe, go to an eternal damnation), or live/reincarnate (or, as some believe, go to heaven). October is when Camping predicts the final day/Armageddon to be.

Now, if he believes this, he must also believe that the bible speaks truths? If so, then how can he overlook that God says that NO ONE WILL KNOW the hour, and that there will be MANY FALSE PROPHETS?!

Ha. Silly. Anyways... Just thought I should clear this up, because so many people were thinking he predicted May 21st to be the END, and that he then CHANGED his prediction to October. But, really, everyone was just lead astray by the evil that is the media.

NEVER trust ANYTHING you hear or read until you have done the research YOURSELF. And research is not going to CNN. Research is going directly to the SOURCE.

Anyways... Hope everyone is having a nice End Of Days day. ^.^
