General Pet-related Links

Post by Sole_Purpose » Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:03 am

Hi All...I'd like to start a thread with general pet/animal links and or information (preferably unrelated to pet massage & cert, as there are threads for adding that kind of info already). Links can be to anything or anyplace pertaining to animals; such as but no limited to: care & grooming products or equipment, specialty retail stores, lodging that accepts pets, cool gadgets, health & nutrition, rescue sites/volunteering info, pampering items, clothing, etc, you name it!

If you've had specific experience, maybe share a little bit about why you're adding the link/info, too (like a blurb about your experience with the product your posting).

Thanks, I look forward to some cool stuff! :smt045

The Whole Dog Journal

Post by Sole_Purpose » Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:24 am

http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/ : A Monthly Guide To Natural Dog Care And Training (I was introduced to this journal earlier this year, it is chock-full of valuable information on all facets of natural dog care. And, although I had already been feeding our Goldens a natural dog food, they also publish an ongoing list of their approved dog foods and why, and then why not for some other commercial brands. You can have the journal snail-mailed, or subscribe online.)

Paradise Poochie

Post by Sole_Purpose » Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:16 am

http://www.paradisepoochie.com : This is a great unique pet boutique in Saint Augustine, Florida (a friend of mine owns this store). The little white poodle on the front of the website is hers, her name is Sunshine...she's such a cutie-patootie. Debbie has done so well after only 3 years in business that she has opened a second store in another section of St. Augustine. She sells all kinds of hard to find gifts and care items, natural dog & cat foods, and home-made doggie treats (looks like they are fit for a human bakery) that you can also order online. But the funniest thing she sells is clothing! This mostly appeals to small dog owners but you can't imagine how many people put clothes on their dog! I hear from them that their small dogs get cold easily - even in the Florida summer heat they still get chilly - so they actually like the clothing.

Natural or Wholistic Pet Food

Post by Sole_Purpose » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:15 am

Here are a few links to some natural/wholistic pet foods that I am familiar with (I have used the food, or know pets that are using it). There are many more available. They are considered natural or wholistic/holistic because they contain human grade meats and protien sources, vitamins & minerals, digestive enzymes, healthy oils, and do not contain by-products (renderd or recycled meats) or growth hormones. In some cases there are organic ingredients, meaning nothing contains or was fed pesticides. Researchers believe that the main cause of cancer in pets is directly related to their diet.

If anyone has pet rabbits, this is a great site:
http://www.ontariorabbits.org
there's some really good diet info, and tons of other rabbit links. I've had my bunny for 4 years, and have been going to this site for probably at least 3 and a half years!
