I have a long time regular client who has a 17 year old daughter. She comes to see us occasionally but most often uses a therapist at her chiro's office when she gets an adjustment. Last week she went in for an adjustment and massage and was told she could only receive a massage if she had a parent/guardian in the room with her, due to the new law. She didn't (drove herself there) and so they wouldn't work on her. My client asked me about it yesterday and I have no idea what law they're talking about and haven't been able to find anything. Anyone know?
As for working on minors, we don't get too many in the office and the ones we do are children of regular clients. Most of the time a parent is in the room but it all depends on the child and the parent. However, I've never been aware of a law.
