Anyone use MassageNerd.com?

Postby Rozax on Thu May 19, 2011 9:23 pm

I recently came across MassageNerd.com and I'd like others' input on it. What do you think of the tests, in particular?

I have no comment on the tests since I've never used them, but I find the site just a little bit difficult to navigate because it's a little busy. That's just a personal picky though, I think there's good information there and often give the site to my students to find muscle pictures or other information to make flashcards with.

I used massage nerd almost exclusively when preparing for my test and I found it very helpful! I really was able to narrow down my weaker areas and then bolster myself. It also helped with my confidence before taking the REAL test to know that I could do so well.

Anyway, it's free. No harm there at all. Try it out! :)

It is a bit difficult to navigate, yes; but does contain some superb stuff! He also has some videos on YouTube, I believe.

I definitely agree with everyone on the navigation. The site does feel very busy and it could stand some streamlining. I'm glad to hear that the tests helped you, GreenDragonfly, and I'm glad to hear that the information is good. I'll definitely put more stock in them, now. Thank you.

They may have some great stuff on their site but I couldn't spend even a minute on their home page before I had to close it. It gave me a headache just looking at it. Too busy, too many advertisements, too confusing.

Sensory overload!!!

Which goes to show, it doesn't matter how good your "stuff" is if the presentation is so poor that no one can find it.

Yeah, I think they need to hire someone to help them with their layout. I think they could also use a new logo. I don't see how it has anything to do with massage.

I have just launched a new Massage Practice Test site. I would be very interested in getting some feedback on the overall look & layout of the site. I've tried to keep it nice & clean, & easy to follow. It is a subscription based site, but we also have a free sample test that anyone can try out. You just have to create a free user account first. Please check it out & tell me what you think - good or bad!

If anyone is interested in this community is interested in trying it out, we are currently running a 50% off promo. Just PM me or contact me through the website for the 50% off link.

I look forward to hearing some feedback and/or helping you prepare for your exam!

Thanks!

It was a little hard to navigate, but I went on it every day for two months straight to take the practice tests for my NCBTMB exam.

I was just poking around in their famous massage therapist section and Dr. Dot was listed as a famous MT :irked:

Ryan really should now better than to ad her name to that list of some really great massage professionals :smt011

While the MassageNerd site has some great content, it also contains a great deal of very low-quality and error-prone content. They have enough better material to start weeding out the junk, but I doubt we'll see that happen any time soon. I very rarely consult the MassageNerd site for anything because I am usually looking for more in-depth information than I find there, and I don't recall ever finding links to good scientific research posted in any kind of systematic format there.

On the other hand, I can usually count on MassageNerd to have info on emerging fads and products in massage/bodywork. I always learn enough to know where to find more information when needed.
