Have you tried a Larabar?

Postby seekingequanimity on Fri Apr 21, 2006 6:23 pm

There is a fairly new "bar" on the market which I think is AWESOME!! :smt035 The Larabar.

I generally don't like bars because they either taste like vitamins or are too sweet.
These are "uncooked, unprocessed, no sugar added, non-GMO, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, vegan, and kosher". heehee, they really covered all the bases.

I have liked every flavor I've tried so far, and they seem to be very satisfying. Mind you, I prefer to make myself a meal, but sometimes it is nice to have something to grab when I am running out the door unexpectedly, or to carry in the car.

I've seen them at Trader Joe's, and my local health food store, which just had them on sale for 99cents.

So, um, I'm just wondering what they do have in them? Also, what flavors are available? Thanks for posting!

Cherry Pie: dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries
Pecan Pie: dates, pecans, almonds
Banana Cookie: almonds, dates, unsweetened bananas
Apple Pie: dates, walnuts, unsweetened apples, almonds, raisins, cinnamon

they have a couple other flavors, one is actually chocolate, and not too sweet, very good (I ate them all, so I can't list the ingredients here), and there is a ginger one, too.

I think I'll try to pick some up. I am having trouble lately fitting proper meals into the day. Get tired of hard boiled eggs or string cheese... ha ha. Those ingredients sound very yummy.
Thanks!

There is nothing in these bars but fruit and nuts. Any fat and calories are from whole, unprocessed fruit and nuts. That's all there is to them.

They can be at the bottom of your bag for a week and still be in one piece, moist and tasty as the day you bought them. A delicious, truly portable nutritious snack that keeps beautifully and can be eaten on the run without any mess.

A client of mine gave me an entire box of the assorted flavors. Cherry and apple are favorites, but they all are delicious in their own way. No artificial stuff or fakey chocolate coatings to melt and get sticky or crumbly messes or horrible "protein powder" aftertaste.

THESE ARE THE BOMB!!!! FIVE stars!

 heehee

You know, Stacey, the same thing happens to me. Cooking and grocery shopping are 2 hobbies of mine, we have great farmer's markets and New Seasons, yet I catch myself going a couple of days without eating anything green or red. With all my good intentions, I often just don't take the time, or sometimes have the time or plan for a real meal. So, these Lara bars are the perfect thing to grab when I'm running out the door, knowing I'm not going to make it back home for lunch. I also drink a lot of V-8 for the same reason. Anyway, I've found that if I have them on hand, I'm WAY more less likely to stop at a drive-thru, or overeat at the next meal.
