Needing help with a CL's issue

Hi there! I'm a new Massage Therapist. I have a CL who is having foot pain. He isn't having any shortening of the ligaments. Just pain in his foot. I have tried general massage, and myofascial release on the arch. I'm beginning to think he has just severely bruised it. Does anyone have any technique...

Advice: Newly licensed and pregnant

I finally got my license. It took me seven years to finally com back around after attending classes. I was just about to begin the employment search when I found out I'm 5wks pregnant. I'm hoping someone can help me. How should I approach interviews? Should I be up front and honest? Can I build up a...

Questions for those already working as MTs.

Hi. I will be testing soon and hopefully licensed by April. I wanted to ask those who have been working as a Massage Therapist a couple of questions. Just in general about your experience with the profession. Thank you for the advice and taking the time to answer these for me. 1. What is the one thi...

Re: Missouri Provisional License

For anyone wondering I have an update on Provisional licensing in Missouri. 1st: You must satisfy the education and training requirements which are the exact same for the MBLEX and NCE. 2nd: Have your MBLEX or other licensing exam test date set. 3rd: Purchase Professional insurance. You may need to ...

Magazine suggestions?

I've subscribed to Massage Wear house but was hoping to find a good magazine for general massage practice. Something that would help me keep up to date with the latest in the massage world. I'm coming up empty and was hoping someone might have some suggestions of their personal favs?

Re: Missouri Provisional License

I have since called Missouri Dept for Massage and Bodywork back. The Provisional license is something anyone who has passes the education requirements can get for $50. They didn't say how long it lasts but he did say that it was only for while you wait to test. I also asked what the renewal looks li...

Re: Missouri Provisional License

No I sure haven't. It's more of a curiosity than anything. I'm planning to take the m led in March so I feel like it'd be silly to fork out the money for that. I might go ahead and call just to know.

Re: MBLEX Freak out

Thank you very much. Those links were in fact helpful. I really think I am probably blowing the test up to be some big scary monster. I failed when I took the NCE right out of school in 2006 and because I was a naive 18yr old I decided I didn't need it. Now that I'm older I've realized that I do in ...

Missouri Provisional License

I applied for a front desk position at the spa I want to apply to after I sit for my test (In March), but they wanted to know why I didn't have a "Provisional License" so I could just work as a Therapist until I get my actual license. This confused me because I thought I had to actually pass the MBL...

MBLEX Freak out

I'm planning to take the MBLEX in March. Tests give me major anxiety so I'm trying to get a good understanding of what I should focus on for the last 3 months. I was concerned about origins/insertions but I found the page that breaks the test down into what the questions are over and origins wasn't ...

Re: Massage Prep online

I did take a look at massagenerd. I like the tips and vids. I enjoy the structure of massageprep. I just find it overwhelming to not know exactly what I need to know. The idea that I need to just know it all is frustrating. I suppose that's part of the challenge. Thank you for all the feedback!

Re: Advice for Cells and the Heart

Thank you so much! That is extremely helpful. As far as cellular development goes I'm not sure what else to put. I do see where clarification is needed. I'm just not sure myself what I need to know. I did several practice tests and did very badly on all of them. I think I've just forgotten most of w...

Advice for Cells and the Heart

I'm studying the cellular development of the body and the functions of the heart. I'm using massageprep online to help me. However they don't have a study guide for cells, but an exam. I'm doing horribly for both cells and the heart. I'm not a very science oriented person and can't seem to get a gra...

Massage Prep online

I'm preparing to take the MBLEX, hopefully in 3-6 months. I found a site with a pass guarentee. They offer animated study guides, practice tests, and animated muscular/skeletal tutorials. It looks incredibly helpful and decently priced. Has anyone else ever used this site to assist them? Backstory: ...

Re: New Requirements (750) +

Thank you very much! I will. I've spoken to someone from NCETMB but they said I only needed 500hrs. However I was assuming that's because it isn't July 1 yet and the new regs hadn't kicked in. I really appreciate the assistance!

Re: New Requirements (750) +

I'm planning on taking my test sometime this year or next. I graduated from class in 2006, I think from a 500hr class. Will this mean that I need an additional 250hrs in order to meet the requirements to take the test?

Tappans Handbook of Healing Massage Techniques Editions

I took my courses in 2006 however I failed my test and gave up. Now I'm determined to retake and pass the test. I went to my locale discount book store and purchased Tappan's 4th edition, then realized later that there is a 5th edition. Is there much difference between the two textbooks? I don't wan...
