Re: "Drink water after massage to 'flush toxins' "

If a client asks me about drinking water afterwards, I just tell them that unless they're dehydrated or thirsty, there's really no need to increase their fluid intake. Just stay hydrated as they normally would.

Re: Are there successful female LMT's who only work on women

Just to chime in on the numbers of inappropriate clients... I work at a health club where my clientele is probably 15-20% male (some therapists there see more men, some less.) Seeing an average of 8-16 clients a week over the last 7+years, I can count on one hand the total number of inappropriate cl...

Re: Practicing in multiple states

I think you'll have to get familiar with which states require licensing, which don't have any regulation at all, and which offer reciprocity with other states. Offhand, I think in general if you're licensed in a state with requirements equal to or greater than the state you're traveling to, you're u...

I'm following the stupidity you're describing, but there's an additional part I don't get. According to NY UI practices, I am on hook for a % of her Unemployment Benefits, If she voluntarily quit working for you, WHY would you owe her any benefits? The healthclub that I'm at does anything and everyt...

Re: Spontaneous unwinding, need help/info

I agree completely with the above. I'm struggling a little to remember, but a few years back when I took one of John Barnes' classes someone asked something about control during unwinding (in terms of "if you have clients booked and a schedule to stick to, what if someone unwinds for an extended per...

Re: Is my abdominal area contraindicated?

If you were a client of mine, I would not massage any bruised areas or within a couple inches of any recent (within 24hrs) injection sites. I *would* however be comfortable doing some very light work - using no more pressure than you would if you were applying lotion or simply taking a shower and wa...

Thank you Relax and rejuvenate for your perspective. Maybe I was not clear in my post, I am concerned for my clients. Could you imagine waiting for 45 minutes to receive a half and hour massage? Yes, that day was awful for ME because I didn't know how to handle my angry clients. When I was trying t...

So Ideally it should be free massage for people as the sole purpose is students to learn how a professional massage and real client environment feels like. Taking advantage of that the school is earning money and also putting clients to the hands of inexperienced in training MTs. The excessive scho...

Something you need to find out is if you're allowed to put expiration dates on prepaid services. Different states have different laws regarding such things.

It always takes a second run through the washers to get all the oil out, even though she takes them straight to the laundry (we use Massage ...

It seems like you've been given some poor information. I took the NCETMB test and passed. I thought it would be a license for life, taking ceus would be no problem. The massage school I attended was an accredited school, and yes, the rooms were checked during massages. For schools to be recognize...

I was brought up that if the phone rang after 9PM then someone better be in the hospital, jail, or dead. That's not to say *I* necessarily feel that way, but I completely understand and respect others wishes if they do. I don't think it's reasonable to tell her to put her notifications on silent (es...

Just a little * to throw in.

The ad says "earn $27-30", so I'm guessing that probably means tips included. Base pay probably is still in the $17-20 range. It's nice to see that they're offering benefits though. I know it can be hit or miss.

Re: Lymph Drainage Therapy developed by Bruno Chikly, MD

Just to clarify, I didn't mean that Chikly uses no A&P, but that it does use intuition (from what I've read and been told) where Vodder is purely A&P based. Some people are drawn to more intuitive therapies, some are drawn to more scientifically based. My intention was to point out that one method u...
