Re: Massage on the honor system

I have enjoyed reading this thread and have long been searching for away to "price" my services so that both my clients and I are comfortable. I would be ecstatic to find myself in a place where I could just let clients pay what they would. I can imagine it being so freeing mentally and emotionally...

Difference between Proffesional and Certified

Can someone tell me why you would pay extra for the Certified Insurance as opposed to just the profesional level? Someone said you have more protection if your certified then just having the profesional insurance? Is this true?

Thanks,

Re: Angry with CA SB 731

I have to say working in San Diego getting state certified relieved me of yearly registration requirements (state will only be every two years) and will save me money. I know its a little bit of a hassel to get it done but the state reg will certainly improve my life.

Use the Therapists thumb on my client yesterday, she kept commenting how smooth it felt. Big thumbs up for an excellent product that I will continue to use. Also they are a work of art and beauty when you look at them

Re: Has anyone used the Therapist Thumb?

I have been using the thumb for about a month now. I find it useful when I need to go deep like it very much. Will definately buy the DVD when it comes out.

Re: Has anyone used the Therapist Thumb?

Would like to order the thumb saver but when went to massage warehouse the $29.00 tool turned into a $41.00 order with shipping and tax  Just can't justify that. I've order thumbsavers and the shipping and service was excellent and reasonably priced. I'm will to pay $30.00 not $41.00 Jason

Re: Pisces Pro

I would agree the kneeling can be a problem with someone with knee problems. That being said the prone position is awesome and gives you tremendous acess to lower back.

Most asian modalities are performed fully clothed shiatsu, tui na ect., accupressure can be done fully clothed. Mostly pressure and holding techniques, I really like doing it and have a client every two weeks who gets a two hour session. I do prefer sweedish though.

I can give you my perspective. Learning to do a massage with good mechanics is extremely important!!! I've hurt my wrists by doing poor mechanics, and recently I strained my thumb by over using it. That being said I really enjoy doing bodywork part time. The three rules I go by when I remember to is...

Going to New Orleans on Government Travel. I thought I read someone here in the Forum works or teaches out there. Wouldn't mind scheduling a session if anyone could give a recommendation

My advice would be to start practicing in a locale that you can live with. For example I practice in San Diego and see clients only in San Diego. That way I'm only beholden to San Diego licensure.

I'm looking forward to state wide regulations in Sept this year :D

Regarding the requests for 'free' samples you could turn it around into a marketing tool by saying: "I'd love to give you a free sample but I only do that in my office. We can stop at fifteen minutes no problem. But my hourly rate is $xx for the complete hour/session. So in effect your getting peopl...

Hey,

It looks like your not going to get anything voluntarily from your ex client, so why not just turn it over to collections and let them work their magic  . Sixty percent of something is better then 100 percent of nothing.

Remember if you prefer not to massage bare skin you don't have to. There are many asian modalities that you can work on the client fully clothed such as Thai, Shiatsu, Tui Na or truely even chair massage which is done through the clothes most of the time. People have built up successfuly practices w...
