I want to quit my new job.

I've been an LMT for 6 years. I just left one chiro clinic for another. I have also been commissioning a space in a shop downtown. Since July I have went from 2 hours of service per week to 10 hours of service per week (I dropped my rates, but I'm more interested in volume than I am cash at the mome...

Re: How fast should my clientele grow?

I am taking everyones advise. I have found a mentor about 30 miles from me. We are just playing email tag now trying to set up a meeting and/or phone conversation. She is so busy that she is closed to new business. I do understand that a more clinical setting is where I need to be for the kind of wo...

Re: How to compete with Chiros who bill insurance for massage

Thank you for that excellent post Jason. That is very encouraging. I have sent a few "free one hour massage" gift cert to local chiros, however as of yet, none has taken me up on it. I do have a client who is a neurologist who said they would refer patients to me and an sports medicine doc who has s...

Re: How to compete with Chiros who bill insurance for massage

I am competing with the chiros ability to bill for massage because they can write a script stating that it is medically necessary. However, clients that are truly in pain will pay what they can just to feel better. I have had a few people see me at the spa that i used to work on in other clinics, be...

Re: How to compete with Chiros who bill insurance for massage

Most of the so called "Medical Massage Therapists" who work for chiros in my area usually only give Swedish massage with more pressure. I have worked with LMTs who don't understand what myofascia is, (myofascia was barely covered in massage school and I went to one of the better schools in my area, ...

How to compete with Chiros who bill insurance for massage

I have worked for 6 years in chiropractic offices for an hourly wage. It is a safety net, but they do have a tendency to over book. I have recently decided to branch out and I am now working in a small but gorgeous spa Th F Sa every week with a great team (I am the only LMT in the spa) and a selfles...

Re: How fast should my clientele grow?

I am a member. There is an option to locate an LMT but nothing stating who is interested in being a mentor.

Re: How fast should my clientele grow?

Thanks for the advise!!!! I love the warm towel idea. I usually use the sheet at the end of the session to absorb the excess lotion in combination with a erector spinae stretch. I will have to work on the feedback card idea. I think I can come up with something that works. The robes and slippers are...

Re: How fast should my clientele grow?

I am working m,w,f in a chiro office. I would love to go full time in the spa, but I have to hit at least 10 hours a week before I can make that leap of faith. I try to be available every reasonable hour I'm not in the chiro office. I give every client a bottle of water after their session and ask t...

How fast should my clientele grow?

I started working in a spa 4 months ago. I work Th/F/Sat every week. My first month was July and I was providing 30-60mins of service a week. Now, however I have been stuck performing 2-2.5 hours of service a week from September until now. I have been offering free chair massage to local fundraisers...
