Re: Really strange IC arrangement...

An independent contractor should invoice the business owner. Otherwise the employee/IC lines are blurred. With that said I simply cut the IC's a cheque at the end of the pay period because none of our would do it properly!

For my clinics the best advertising has been adword campaigns. And I think our website is pretty good at converting potential customers to clients.

Re: K-taping

I've taken a few courses over the years. To be honest I didn't find a got much bang for my buck. It's really easy to self teach yourself by doing some research online. I use the taping on certain patients if its warranted. Works great as a pain reliever, almost too good that you need to be selective...

Re: New marketing campaign exploded!

Hey Jason, You might have already mentioned in your post: 1) How much of a discount was this offer? 2) Do you send a regular newsletter to clients? I'm trying to get a measure of how this might work for my clinic. We advertise a "5 session treatment package" which is a discount of 20% per session. I...

Re: Is it wrong for me to text my therapists late?

I've encountered a similar situations. For certain therapists I will send a quick text if someone books first thing in the morning or if its a day of booking that they are not aware of I will send them a message. Most therapist appreciate the heads up. I have one therapist that does not appreciate t...

Good topic. With my employees its mandatory that therapist wear dress pants. We keeps things business casual. I find this is easier to enforce than yoga attire and it looks professional.

Re: Done any videos? + article on viral massage video

I find I'm lazy and its much easier to watch a video, requires less focus! A lot of our how to videos are 30 second up to 3 minutes. Here is one we put together today. Took approximately 30 minutes.

Check superior gemmelus. It's way more likely entrapment point then the ever so popular piriformis. Athletica, Thank you very much for your reply! I did check and there seemed to be more tension between the gluteus medius, greater trochanter, and the vastus lateralis... Also those crazy knots are dr...

Re: Different condition

What is causing the sciatica? A thorough assessment is important with sciatica symptoms. In my experience most entrapments occur more distal to the disc/foramen. Superior gemmelus, piriformis, adductor magnus, sacral ligaments or between hamstrings are where you want to check for entrapments. I tend...

Being a massage therapist I definitely can empathize with the person writing the petition. But as a business owner I definitely look at it a bit differently. That's great! I really do think people appreciate when a practitioner is not rushed and taking the time between patients. I have the luxury to allot 30-60 minutes between clients as I have several therapists that work for me. With that said I find most of my therapist follow suit and work a bit long...

Its definitely takes a bit of time to do the videos, probably 45 minutes per video. I try to get new therapist...

Excellent topic. Whenever someone in my area does a groupon my first thought is there goes a few customers. But if a ''deal find'' is going to help a struggling business or a startup get their feet under them I'm okay with that. Deal finds are hard work on the therapist and business.

Try to maximize the space. Some of the franchise tanning salons are a good template for massage practices they are very successful utilizing 750 to 1000 square ft. My clinic is 1000 square ft. I would suggest you do everything in your power to maintain a good relationship with your current employer. Be transparent with the owner - let the owner know that you will be leaving for a new opportunity. Tell the owner you're willing to refer your patient to another therapist in the clinic. If yo...
