There's an essential oil blend from the company "Spa Technologies" called "Deep Heat." According to their website, they use eucalyptus, thyme, rosemary and juniper. We have it at the place I work, but I haven't tried it to see what the effects are. Since you've sparked my interest, I'll check it out...

These aren't sandals, but I recently started wearing shoes by the company ECCO. From the first day I wore them, I felt like they were crafted especially for my feet. The style I bought--Yarrah--is very flat and lightweight...but the insole is so absorbant, and supports my foot in all the right place...

Thanks, Bliss, for that insight. After I read the post, I paid a little more attention while massaging my clients' necks and I found that you were right! My right hand seems to be less sensitive than my left! It was a surprise because I'm right handed, and, if anything, I thought it would be reverse...

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I over analyze, and I just didn't have the knowledge of what a lymph node actually feels like to answer my own question. But now I know! I think I have felt one before, now that I think about it. The knot I often feel is usually on the left side of the neck, and ex...

lymph node vs trigger point

Okay, this is a silly question, but lately when working the neck on my clients, I often wonder if 'that big bump' is a trigger point or a lymph node. Is there a way to tell the difference? (I don't remember going over this in school.) I started to get worried when I noticed that most people have the...

Last week, I had a client on the table who was all wrapped up in a body wrap. Then: the tornado sirens went off! I am not comfortable being in tornado country, so I think I was more freaked out then she was... The next day, I was giving a massage, and half way through the building's fire alarm went ...

When I was in school, I did a report on this, and the book I used that helped me the most was "Silent Waves, Theory and Practice of Lymph Drainage Therapy..." By Bruno Chikly. I thought it was very "text-booky," (a little hard to read), but it had a wealth of information. He is one of the pioneers o...

Well, I'm vegetarian, but I was raised on meat. I've been a vegetarian for about 5 years now. The number one reason behind my decision to eliminate meat from my diet was for ethical reasons. Second to that was for my health. I have a feeling that a majority of vegetarians and vegans out there do it ...

One important lesson I had to learn the hard way dealt with Transference; Don't assume that you know how pleased the client is or isn't. Sometimes when you try to "read" people, you see your own feelings and not theirs. Instead, when trying to please the client, do the best job you know how to do an...

I'm almost a month late on this thread, so you may've lost interest, or figured it out, but I wanted to put in my two cents...As people have already noted, each grain has it's own cooking time, so I think if you cooked them seperately, and mixed it after, you'd probably have better luck. I'm using T...

E.Oils that are harmful to cats?

Hello, I was once told about how some oils are lethal when it comes to cats....I also thought I read about it on here, but now I can't find the thread. Can anyone tell me which oils these are, or offer any insight? I'm working for a spa that uses essential oils, and I want to be sure that I'm not go...

Hello, again, from Kansas City!

Hi! I've been a member of this board for a little over a year now, but I wanted to officially introduce myself as a "professional" MT. I graduated from school in July, took (and passed) the NCE exam, and have been working as a MT for about six or seven weeks now. I love this community; everyone has ...

Hello, I studied in Missouri, and our school did the same thing as Rose of Sharon's school. Hello, (I'll apologize in advance if this topic has already been discussed, but I haven't seen any threads about it...) A question for the ladies...

I was wondering if anyone has had an experience like mine, or if anyone can give me a logical explanation as to whether or not my problem could be related with massage: I am a student, and receive massage twice a week. I am in class with the same 16 women every week, and have been since last summer....
