Re: List forum glitches HERE!
It's been a while since I last visited this site, and I still can't view active topics. Maybe it just doesn't like me?

Re: Co-Worker Smells Like A Rose
I had a client once who wore a perfume that reminded me of a specific time and place in my life. I don't remember much about that client (I don't even remember if the client was male or female), but that smell was so pleasant, and so utterly distracting. I don't remember what the smell was, anymore,...

Re: If you couldn't do massage anymore...
I'd throw a bunch of time into music (singing, pick up a new instrument, actually learn some musical theory), and spend more time learning how to make my own clothes. My husband would support me as I recover from being deprived of my chosen career.

The only one who can really determine whether or not this would be beneficial is you. I've met clients who get weekly massages, while some are happy to get a massage no more than twice per year. Are you looking to go in for relaxation or therapeutic purposes?

Re: The Field
I think part of what will help us determine the field is whether we want to be a profession of tradition or medicine. Do we want to follow the practice because that's how it's always been done, or do we want to partake in the latest research? Should we leave research to the scientists whose lives co...

A few days ago, I purchased this new book in Kindle format. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51S6vS0XMaL._SS500_.jpg How new? It just came out in April. The forward is written by Ruth Werner , who lovingly confesses jealousy of the newest massage generations for having this sort of book at thei...

Re: Massage Envy
But I did come across the following website, which I shall share for everyone's amusement: MassageEnvyBlows.com What a ridiculous site. Such a horrible organization could only muster 3 pages of how bad massage envy blows with 100s of locations and 1000s of employees and 10s of thousands of customer...

Re: Applying To Massage Envy- Experience/Advice Wanted
Just wanted to update a bit. The chiro gig didn't work out. And honestly I'm okay with that. Not a full week after requesting my resume with the main chiro/controlling partner, they put an ad on craigslist looking for an MT. This is without ever responding to my resume submission or anything. So in...

Re: Massage Envy
Well, I've given ME a spin, and I'm not satisfied. I'd rather not bore anyone with specifics, as I'm sure my experience is not unique, and rehashing the same-old same-old won't get us anywhere. But I did come across the following website, which I shall share for everyone's amusement: MassageEnvyBlow...

Re: Considering California certification instead of national
I still can't fathom why my National Certification isn't acceptable, though. The national certification offered by the NCBTMB is not a national certification in the sense that it's offered by a nationally governing body that governs massage therapy for the entire country (there is NO governing body...

Re: Examples of Business Cards
That's a difficult question to answer. I could just show you mine, but I don't like mixing my real life with online. What I did, though, was put my certification seals (such as AMTA, ABMP, NCBTM, MMIP, etc.) along the sides, and put my information in the middle, with my business title along the top....

I must say, the only problem that I've had with Voice is that, if I miss a call, the voicemail goes straight to my inbox instead of my phone. This could be an issue with my phone, though. It's about 6 years old.

I just gifted "The Harper Hall" (in one binding!) to a friend of mine. She's going through a rough time, and this is the trilogy that always lifts my spirits. "Nerilka's Story", though tragic up to the conclusion, also makes me feel better.

Re: Is anyone with MMIP?
Well, I did end up going with AMTA, and thus far, I am happy with my decision. Thanks to all the research I did to come to this conclusion, I've helped others decide which insurance company would be best for them. Did you know that you can even talk to some employers about liability insurance? You a...

Re: Portrayal of Massage in the Media
This is probably my new favorite massage reference: Big Bang Theory: Magic Hands ...also probably my favorite show ever! That scene had me in giggle fits! Especially since my friends didn't know how to react to the scene with me in the room! I'm split on this one. I understand the sentiment behind ...

I am in the processing of getting CMTC licensing. I have been approved and am just awaiting my license right now. The city I live in tried to make me get their license as well which after fingerprinting etc would have cost an additional $300.00 and they wanted it updated annually I contacted the CM...
