My name was given to me by a client that I was giving Reiki treatments to. She was in a terrible car accident and had casts on every limb. She was amazed that she could feel the energy thru the plaster casts. When she told her father about it, he got scared and forbade her to have anymore treatments...

Re: Rotator cuff help!!!!!

Reading the responses made me wonder who I would have consulted if I were given the same situation.  I don't have a source for advice on a matter I'm not comfortable with.  I believe I need to create a referal list.  I definitely would have been unwilling to do any "deep tissue".   Kudos to you on h...

Re: PA legislation

HB 1643 has been introduced.  It is in the Professional Licensure committee.  It replaces HB 2078.  It is IMHO highly restrictive and burdensome.

Re: What's TCM?

Heather, because lots of states are not accepting the NCETM, I urge you to take the NCETMB.  The Traditional Chinese Medicine is not impossible to pick up.  The extra pathology and kinesiology on the NCETM will make up for the TCM questions they take out!  If you memorize this wheel, you will get ha...

Re: I failed my exam three times!

Heather, Here is how I passed.  I took their study guide and created a section in a binder for every topic.  I copied from my A&P notes and text, my massage text, trailguides, and anywhere else I had to go to get info.  My binder is about 2" thick.  Mark it up with red pencil and highliters to bring ...

Re: Pain in hands and wrists

It is not unusual to experience discomfort for a while when doing healing with others.  I can't honestly say that I know the exact reason. It is always a good idea to silently say an affirmation before doing healing such as:<br>"I do not wish to accept any energy that is not my own"  This prevents y...

I'm interested in finding out how anybody could steal another's energy.  It certainly wasn't part of any Reiki studies that I was taught.  <br>  No Reiki Master knows everything.  I've been practicing for three years and learn something new every day.  <br>Medicineman RM/T  :)

Re: Guided Meditation?

I don't usually use guided meditations in my massages.  I did find a use for it with a client who is extremely ticklish.  She wanted the massage, but could barely lie still.  Sooo, I took her to the beach with a story that I made up as I went along.  It was fun, and it works.  If you want to use the...

Re: Gender discrimination by SF spa

The reason male M.T.s will never get legal protection from discrimination is because of a legal concept called "Extreme Embarassment".  This is why "women only' gyms exist.  Strangely, this doesn't apply to men's locker rooms and female reporters.  The real issue here is a person's right to work. By...

I have to wonder if it is possible that your friend has Fibro.  The symetrical "knots" sound more like trigger points.  They aren't bone. Re: Gender discrimination by SF spa

If the scheduler at a massage facility asks first if the client wants a male or female therapist, then the men are out of luck.  If the scheduler offers appointments to the next MT in line then the guys get appointments.   In short, it is the scheduler that starts the process by making gender an iss...
