Sorry, they were just snatched up about 30 min ago. I didn't see your post until I came over to delete them from the thread.

I'm not sure with Alexander video it is. I'll check when I get home later tonight and let you know.

I've taken the 40 hr Waslaski course and it is certainly chock full of technique. To get started, I definitely recommend the Whitney Lowe course- he teaches online classes, each level is 6 months long and deals with critical thinking. I think they're teaming up together these days. Jason is a person...

Good for you for "sticking to your guns"! Why waste time with people looking to use you when you can have that time available for clients who really appreciate your work and what you do for them. I've made it a policy to immediately refer those to other mt's who come complaining about my rates. Once...

The psoas has more of a reputation that it deserves. Work the anterior thigh- don't worry about the psoas so much. Sure, it helps some who have the training, but if you haven't had the hands on training to work the psoas, your work isn't going to be worse off. There is question that the psoas is act...

Re: biofreeze and herniated disc

Biofreeze has ingredients that activate the nerve receptors in the skin that respond to cold. So, Biofreeze is a trick to fool the brain into thinking the area feels cool. That can feel really good to some folks and irritate the crap out of others. Herniated discs don't always cause pain- sometimes ...

Re: How/why did you become a massage therapist?

In all honesty...I joined the massage profession because I wanted to purchase a sailboat to sail the world and have somewhere to sleep without being harassed. Granted, at that time, I'd already been hitchhiking and camping around several countries and had already developed an interest in the healing...

Ask him if he has difficulty breathing when laying down to sleep at night. If not, there's a possibility that something about the massage creates anxiety for him and that's why he's having difficulty.

Re: Giving away massage is NOT a marketing expense

Good idea JLW. Your post made me consider something- even though I can't write it off for massage, maybe I'll start giving away $$ amounts in a gift certificate instead of massage time. That way it makes up for inflation. I just had a client come in on a 30min session I donated 3 years ago to an eve...
